I think I used to be better at multi-tasking, or at least better at convincing myself I was better at multi-tasking. during college I was convinced I could watch TV or movies on one screen while writing or coding on the other. Now, music playing in the background is about the limit of what my brain can handle while trying to actually complete a major task.
Like, say, writing blog posts.
I’m trying to write this while Lilo & Stitch plays out in the background. That sounds like it should be a metaphor, as I now write it, but its not. It (probably?) isn’t a surprise that we love cartoons, Disney movies in particular. Lilo & Stitch has never been at the top of my list, but apparently its one of Allison’s favorites, and the animation is pretty great. We watched The Emperor’s New Groove last night (holiday weekends, amirite?) and that film is one of my favorites. I would love to shake the hands of whoever wrote the script for that, because the meta-play and fourth-wall breaking in that movie warms the cockles of my heart.
Ending the Disney love-fest but continuing the talk about movies wot we like, we saw X-Men: Days of Future Past this weekend, and it immediately went to the top of my list for X-Men movies. This is including all the Wolverine films, I think. Its a phenomenal film, and had some Avengers-worthy humor. The way they portray Quicksilver, and the scene where you get to see things at his speed, is probably the best scene in the film, and I could watch it on repeat for hours, most likely. You’ve probably already seen it, but if not, go have a couple hours of pure entertainment.
Thanks,
Philip
