I like to think that Captain Quail was so surprised by discovering a Raptor egg hidden behind the Cyberstellar Cortex, that his decision to take the egg was slightly irrational. Presented with a life yet to be formed, he acted on instinct and decided to give this life a chance. His decision has impacts he cannot possibly predict.
(Side note: My mind is paranoid and hyper-active, so it thinks there's a possibility someone might read the above and think I'm a right-to-lifer. To them I say: Don't read political preferences into the decision of a freaking space-bird)
We can see our 100th comic from here, and that's something that fills me with pride. I'm even more proud of the fact that we aren't even thinking about stopping, and wish we had time to do more than we're already doing. We have big plans for the coming months and years.
Things I'm really liking at the moment: Digital comics from the Humble Bundle. Ebooks from the various Story Bundles. Rogue Legacy, which fills more of my free time than it should. Especially, especially Rogue Legacy, a game where the creators really grabbed hold of the subject material and poured themselves into a work. Something else I appreciate, as an amateur game-maker, is that on random levels you can come across a history of the studio, with brutally honest accounts of their successes and failures. On one-hand this is fourth-wall-breaking and super meta, but the game was already playing hopscotch with those boundaries anyway. It works, and probably should never be repeated.
Another thing I recently remembered I would like there to be more of: Experiences like ComfyCon. We didn't actually participate in the last one, but the idea of an online webcomic conference resonates with me on so many levels. I hope they bring it back this year (maybe you should tweet them and ask), but if it looks like they would prefer not to run it, I think we would be more than willing to pick it up and run with it. Egg knows we have the tech skills in this group.
Thanks for reading, and see you Friday!
